English Lady Turns Into Scottish Mistress Overnight
The Scottish Masters was won this weekend by visiting English player Beatrice McGlen of Nottingham. Despite the name of the tournament, it was the ladies who topped the leader board at Meadows with Beatrice and Jane both on 5/6 wins but as Beatrice had beaten Jane in their match, she was declared the winner and took the silverware back to Nottingham. Martin Stephenson completed a trio of triples on day one, Alan Wilson did some giant-beating with a win over James Hopgood but it was Bob Darling who won the bottle of fizz by winning the wine race challenge. Best of all, a top-notch afternoon tea was provided by the glamorous Alison Ross of the Meadows club. Thanks also to James Hopgood for managing the event.
