Welcome to the Scottish Croquet Association

Welcome to the Scottish Croquet Association (SCA). We use this site to bring you all the latest Scottish Croquet news, details of tournaments, and information for Croquet players both established and new.

The SCA is the Scottish Governing Body (SGB) of Croquet, as recognised by sportscotland. The SCA is first and foremost concerned with the interests of Croquet players playing in Scotland, or those who regularly come and play in Scotland.

The SCA is entirely voluntarily run, is completely not-for-profit, and exists to achieve the following objectives by working with Croquet Clubs and individuals:

  1. to encourage, promote, and develop the sport of Croquet in Scotland;
  2. to promote and manage Croquet competitions and to encourage participation and improve performance at all levels;
  3. to ensure it is a fit-for-purpose Governing Body that is recognised by the sports councils, to ensure that Croquet is a recognised sport, and to ensure that Croquet is administered in a way that meets current legislation.

This website contains more information about the SCA and its policies, membership information, and more importantly, information, results, and reports about Croquet events in Scotland.

Scottish AC Open 2026

20-21 June 2026, Balgreen

Rick Harding, Champion of ScotlandAnyone who knows me will know that I like playing at different clubs and meeting new people.  One new club a year is my simple aim - not necessarily overseas. For the last few years I have travelled to Austria, Switzerland and Czechia for tournaments. So what did 2026 hold for me - Scotland. I have been present at a couple of tournaments at Meadows, but never played. I booked myself in for the Scottish Open at Balgreen, Edinburgh.

Sadly something is now going on with the nerve in my right arm, and I have had to withdraw - blinkin’! So still not played in Scotland. However, newly set up as assistant manager to Jane Morrison, I shall be keeping Croquet Scores up to date, being general runner to all and this.

My travelling companion is Rick Harding, and we arrived in Edinburgh in full rain, as expected. The bus system is excellent here and we were able to get into the city very easily. The rain, unfortunately, had not stopped the tourists! We crossed over and up onto The Mound muttering automatic oohs and aahs and the occasional “look at that”. Weaving around tourists (yes, I do appreciate we too were in that category), I think we managed to go up and down every road and alley. The sun came out and… what a beautiful place. Obligatory miniature hairy cow purchased and time to catch the bus back to our lovely hosts, Jane and Campbell Morrison.

Scottish Masters 2026

23-24 May, Meadows

Chris won the Scottish Masters beating Alastair in a tie-break after both had finished with 5 wins out of 6.

With a heatwave developing, the azaleas in bloom, and Edinburgh inundated with runners for the marathon, the Meadows hosted the Scottish Masters. There were 10 entrants, with handicaps ranging from -1½ to 10, including two from firth of Scotland - Dennis Bulloch of New Zealand and Robbie Dodds from England. Despite the challenging conditions of tight hoops and slow lawns, most games were completed within the 2hr 50min time limits.
