Wilkinson Sword 2022

6 August 2022, Knightswood

Teams arrived at Knightswood from Glasgow, Auchincruive, Balgreen and Aberdeen & Crathes croquet clubs to compete for the Wilkinson Sword handicap doubles. The weather was changeable with sunshine in both the liquid and traditional format.

Due to time pressures a full all-play-all format was not practical so we had a draw for semi-finals and final.  The first round saw Balgreen drawn against Glasgow and Auchincruive against Aberdeen & Crathes with victories for Balgreen and Auchincruive.  This produced a final between Auchincruive and Balgreen which Auchincruive won after a low scoring game with a close finish.  Meanwhile Aberdeen & Crathes beat Glasgow 26-24 after a match-winning final turn by Bill Strachan.

The winner of this year's tournament was Kevin Wright, who won all of his games, and brought the Quaich back to Auchincruive after two years at Glasgow The rest shared the points, all winning one game.

SCA GC Interclub 2022

The 2022 GC inter-club league consists of one all-play-all block.

Each match will consist of two players from each team playing

  • a best-of-one* handicap doubles game, followed by
  • a best-of-three* 13 point handicap singles rubber each. Normally the lower handicap players will play each other, but captains may agree otherwise.

* The captains may agree in advance to play best-of three doubles and/or best-of-one singles, depending on time constraints. But in any event a match must consist of one doubles rubber and two singles rubbers, in order that a result is obtained.

Teams may be selected from a pool of players but no player may play for more than one team. All singles games count for the handicap card.

In the tables below the team named in the row will have choice of venue if there is a * in the cell, otherwise the choice will belong to the team named in the column. For example for Meadows 1 v Auchincruive, Meadows 1 has the choice of venue.
