Spring Weekend 2022

For her first time, Jola Jurasinska won the Spring competition.   Sadly the Tankard trophy could not be presented as it had been stolen (unfortunately along with the Wrights' campervan) a few days previously.

The temperature over the weekend was respectable and devoid of rain, with the lawns playing well.  Several variations to the list of entrants might have resulted in a single block of six; however late minute recruiting increased the field to eleven, although some could not play on both days.  An Egyptian format was adopted with eight players each day and completion of three games to qualify.   Many thanks to those who agreed to play at short notice and widen the range of the competition.

Games were 18-point (AC Law 51.2.3 for second ball clip to 3-back after scoring hoop 1) with 2 hour time limits.  Out of 22 games only 5 required full time.  At the end of day 1, Brian (109) was leading, with Kathy (106) and Jola (105) close behind.   By the end of the penultimate round Jola was three points ahead of Brian followed closely by Kathy, Stefan, David then Roger.  The last round saw Kevin push back Stefan.  A win for Brian against Roger would have given him the title, but that was denied and Jola became the champion for 2022.
