East v West of Scotland 2022

East retained the Piersland Rosebowl over the weekend in fair weather.
A fortnight before the annual informal gathering from across Scotland and the number of registered entrants was so low that viability was questioned. With some urging and further advertisement, a total of 22 players from West and East participated across two days, sadly without representatives from the North.
Despite the disappointing attendance, it was good to see members from Auchincruive on both days, who were supplemented by the Imrie family on the second day to replace those Meadows members representing the West from the first day. Each side then had 7 players with the manager filling in to keep play moving.
A preponderance of GC only skill prevented the traditional wide mix of games. AC was limited to 14-point contests and GC was set at best of 13. Most games were singles, although to keep active occasional ties were one against a pair and some were doubles. Overall 47 games (AC 8 & GC 39) produced 552 hoops scored with the final tally of 26 wins for East against 21 for West.
