East v West of Scotland 2007

This most flexible, informal and inclusive of Scottish croquet events, now in its fifth year, continued its evolution by drawing in a new group of participants, from the Glasgow Golf Croquet community, and diversifying into literary competition, as David Appleton offered a prize for the best 26-word story whose words began with the letters of the alphabet in order.  Some of Sunday's players on the East side also took part in the Edinburgh Marathon in the morning (but as marshals, not as runners).

Basil Townsend Quaich 2007

19 May 2007, Glasgow

The Basil Townsend Quaich was retained by Edinburgh (Allan Hawke) beating Glasgow (Tony Whateley) +13 in poor weather.  Allan played a 12 hoop break in heavy rain but Tony played an 11 hoop break in the sunshine!

SCA v Croquet North 2007

5-6 May 2007, Meadows

Another enjoyable match against Croquet North took place at Meadows West on Saturday and Sunday 5th and 6th May 2007.  The visitors were Derek Watts, Phil Errington, Sheila Watts and Alice Fleck while the SCA had chosen David Appleton, James Hopgood, Alan Wilson and Joe Lennon.  On handicap this gave Croquet North a slight edge.
