Meadows Golf Croquet Open 2014

3-4 May 2014, Meadows

With twelve entrants, this Tournament was designed on an all-play-all basis spread over two days. To maintain interest, the games which were most likely to produce the eventual winner were scheduled towards the end of the Tournament.

After six rounds and at the end of day one, only James Hopgood and John-Paul Moberly were unbeaten, with Hamish having lost in his game with J-P.

On the Sunday morning, It was looking likely that the winner would be decided in the last game of the Tournament, when J-P was scheduled to play James. However, with Hamish beating James in the ninth round, the win would go to J-P were he to beat James.

James did prevail in his final game and we were then left with three players on 10 wins from 11 games. The tie break criteria determined James as the Tournament winner.

Spring Weekend 2014

26-27 April 2014, Meadows

The number of players in this first SCA tournament of 2014 matched the year, and the same number, 14, was also the most frequently occurring handicap, held by four of those competing.  So it's not surprising that it was one of these, David Houston, who came out as the winner - although by the end of the tournament he had got his handicap down to 12.
